The LETSEMA consortium and the Delegation of the European Union to the Kingdom of Lesotho are co-organizing the Launch of the LETSEMA Project on the 29th of February in Maseru, bringing together stakeholders working for a Renewable Lesotho.
The LETSEMA initiative is a collaborative project involving the NUL’s Energy Research Centre (ERC), the Bethel Business and Community Development Centre (BBCDC), the University of Turku in Finland, and Linnaeus University in Sweden. The primary objective of this project is to enhance the capacity of consortium members to deliver high-quality education in sustainable energy, with the ultimate goal of generating employment opportunities in the green energy sector.
The project is the first ever capacity-building project funded in Lesotho under the Erasmus+ academic programme. It complements the activities of Renewable Lesotho, a joint initiative to increase clean energy generation and energy efficiency in the Mountain Kingdom, promote access to reliable and equitable access to energy, while improving energy sector leadership and capacity.
The programme incorporates presentations and comments from consortium members, experts and dignitaries, introduction to project activities, impact and objectives, and an interactive session where the project’s wider stakeholder network is engaged to consider sustainable energy sector development and needs in Lesotho and the pressing challenge of climate change.
